Storage Chamber
Specialized storage enclosures are used to keep moisture-sensitive electronic components in dry conditions on the factory floor. This dry enclosure is a low humidity cabinet, which utilizes desiccant technology or dry air purging to maintain a low relative humidity. It allows assemblies and parts to be stored without the need for resealing them in barrier bags.
The cabinet preserves the remaining floor life of the devices.
Moisture Prevention
Holding parts in an environment with less than five percent relative humidity stops them from absorbing water vapor. This dry state pauses the exposure clock for moisture-sensitive components. The cabinet prevents the need for baking cycles, which can degrade the solderability of component leads.
This storage method is highly efficient for active production lines.
Maintenance Protocol
Continuous monitoring of the internal humidity is required to ensure the cabinet is functioning correctly. Integrated sensors record the humidity levels and trigger alarms if the doors are left open too long. Desiccant blocks inside the cabinet must be automatically regenerated or replaced when saturated.
This maintenance ensures the internal atmosphere remains dry.
Cabinet Specification
Cabinets must meet industrial standards that define recovery times after a door is opened. High-performance models can return to less than five percent relative humidity within ten minutes of closing. This recovery speed is essential in high-volume factories where parts are retrieved frequently.
The internal chambers are grounded to prevent electrostatic discharge damage to sensitive components. Daily calibration checks on the internal hygrometers ensure that the displayed readings remain accurate over long operation periods.
