Fluidic Process
Precision liquid delivery systems rely on the attractive forces between a fluid and a solid surface to move small volumes through narrow channels. Applying capillary fluid dispense ensures that lubricants or potting compounds reach the deepest recesses of a sensor housing without the use of high pressure. This action stops when the surface tension of the fluid matches the gravitational or mechanical resistance of the channel.
Surface Interaction
Contact angles between the droplet and the substrate determine the speed and efficiency of the fill. Low angles indicate high wettability, which facilitates the rapid spread of the medium across the internal components. Viscosity of the fluid must be controlled at the point of application to maintain a consistent flow rate.
Volumetric Accuracy
Measurement of the total volume delivered occurs by weighing the part before and after the filling cycle. Precision scales with milligram resolution verify that the amount of material meets the design specification. Any air trapped during the process creates a void that alters the final weight.
Production Constraint
Nozzle diameter and pump pressure set the limits on how fast the operation can run. Hardness of the fluid once cured is checked at the batch level.
