Timing intervals in image sensors define the precise duration when all rows are simultaneously sensitive to light under a global shutter operation. Within high speed photography, the global overlap window dictates the maximum possible duration of an external light pulse to ensure uniform frame illumination. The limits of this interval are set by the clock speed of the chip and the vertical blanking time between sequential frames.
Illumination Timing
Synchronisation logic triggers the light source exactly when the global overlap window is open for every pixel. Correct alignment of the global overlap window prevents the loss of information at the top or bottom of the array. Jitter in the trigger pulse can cut the effective integration time for some pixels.
Sensor Calibration
